The Rivermen won two of three games this week improving their record to 22-20-2-1. Their 47 points currently rank third in the Midwest Division and eighth in the Western Conference with all seven teams behind them within four points.
Jan. 24 – W 6-3 vs. Milwaukee | HIGHLIGHTS
Peoria defeated the Milwaukee Admirals 6-3 in the second annual Faceoff Fieldtrip on Tuesday morning in front of 7,082 at Carver Arena. Adam Cracknell (2g), T.J. Hensick (1g, 1a), Danny Syvret (1g, 1a), Derek Nesbitt (2a) and Cade Fairchild (2a) each recorded two-point games in the win. Phil McRae and Jonathan Cheechoo (EN) also scored for the Rivermen. Jake Allen allowed three goals on 30 shots while Peoria fired 40 shots on net. Peoria scored two power-play goals on four chances and held Milwaukee to 1-for-5 on the man advantage.
Jan. 27 – W 4-2 vs. Grand Rapids | HIGHLIGHTS
Grand Rapids’ Brendan Smith scored a short-handed marker for the game’s first goal at 6:48 in the first period before Peoria responded with a four-goal second period en route to a 4-2 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins last night at Carver Arena. Adam Cracknell tallied three assists while Ian Cole scored in his first game back from St. Louis. Ben Bishop allowed two goals on 34 shots and remains tied for the league lead in wins with 18. Evgeny Grachev, Jonathan Cheechoo, and Cade Fairchild also scored for Peoria. The Rivermen went 1-for-6 on the power play while the Griffins converted on one of four.
Jan. 28 – L 5-2 vs. Grand Rapids | HIGHLIGHTS
After Peoria’s top three scorers were held off the score sheet on Friday night, Brett Sterling, Derek Nesbitt and T.J. Hensick each tallied goals for the Rivermen in a 5-2 loss to the Griffins on Saturday. The Griffins led 3-1 halfway through the second period before the Rivermen tied the game heading into the third period. Jake Allen stopped 33 of 37 shots on goal while both teams were held scoreless on three power plays.

Rivermen Report:
- Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop was named Top Goaltender in the AHL Skills Competition on Sunday night. Bishop’s 18 wins and six shutouts both lead the AHL.
- All-Star center T.J. Hensick’s 53 points (16g, 37a) grade first in the Western Conference. Hensick now has 17 multi-point games this season.
- Prior to Saturday’s loss, Evgeny Grachev tallied points in three consecutive contests.
- Rivermen head coach Jared Bednar coached in his 125th game for Peoria on Saturday.
- The Rivermen power play ranks fourth in the AHL at 21.5%. The penalty kill grades eighth at 83.2%.
- Peoria is one of three teams in the AHL with four 30-point scorers as of Jan. 30.
