The Rivermen finished a five-game homestand – their longest of the season – with two wins and a loss last weekend to improve to 20-17-2-1 this season. Peoria’s 43 points rank fourth in the Midwest Division and eighth in the Western Conference.
Jan. 12 – W 4-0 vs. Lake Erie | HIGHLIGHTS
Ben Bishop recorded his league-leading sixth shutout and 16th win on Thursday night in a 38-save effort. T.J. Hensick (1g, 2a) and Brett Sterling (1g, 1a) each scored power-play goals while Derek Nesbitt (1g, 1a) and Mark Cundari (1g) scored in the latter half of the game. The Rivermen went 2-for-6 on the power play and held the Monsters scoreless on five opportunities.
Jan. 13 – L 2-1 vs. Houston | HIGHLIGHTS
For the third time in as many games, Hensick scored a first period power-play goal to give the Rivermen a 1-0 lead. After Houston countered with two first period goals, Peoria sent just 13 shots on goal over the final two periods. Jake Allen stopped 34 of 36 shots on goal while Aeros goaltender Darcy Kuemper saved 22 of 23. The Rivermen went 1-for-4 on the power play and held the Aeros to 1-for-7.
Jan. 14 – W 2-1 vs. Houston | HIGHLIGHTS
Brett Sonne and Nesbitt each scored second-period goals within a span of 1:41 while Bishop saved 32 of 33 shots on goal in his AHL-best 17th win of the season. Peoria finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play and Houston went 0-for-4.

- Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop was named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15, 2012. Bishop won both of his starts last week and stopped 70 of 71 (0.986%) shots on goal. He currently ranks among the top five AHL goaltenders in GAA (2.17), save percentage (0.932%), wins (17), shutouts (6), minutes (1607:02) and saves (796).
- All-star center T.J. Hensick’s 47 points (14g, 33a) continue to lead the Western Conference. Hensick has tallied seven points over the past four games and has registered at least one point in 32 of his 40 games this season.
- Rookie defenseman Cade Fairchild leads the league in +/- at 21.
- The Rivermen power play grades second best in the AHL at 21.8%. The penalty kill ranks eighth at 84.2%.
