What a way to end the North American side to the pre season as the Blues stung Dallas with a well executed clinic, winning the game 5-0. Chris Mason was strong in net, going the distance, while the puck movement and special teams were strong. Once again, Derek Armstrong made a strong case for his versatility up front, as he was impressive.

The plane ride was a blast, watched a few movies, had a few laughs and now we are in Stockholm.

The hotel is in a great area and is close to everything, including Old Town.

Doug Armstrong has plenty of experience in Stockholm as a GM in the NHL and for Canada in the World Championships, so he lead us all in the right direction once we got settled in at the hotel. We had a great dinner in the Old Town district at an Italian restaurant and then some laughs after.

Day 1 at practice on Monday was good as Andy Murray kept practice jumping and energetic. I'm sure the players were feeling a bit out of sorts as it would be a 5 a.m. practice back home, but they got sharper as practice went along. It likely didn't help the players with the practice rink being 100 x 200 feet, Olympic size, rather than the NHL standard, 200 x 85.

The games against Detroit will at the main Globe Arena, which they have changed over to the NHL standard-sized rink.

Before the Blues took to the ice at the Globe practice Arena, former NHLer, Johan Garponlov was in the stands watching his team, Djurgadens IF, practice. They are in the Swedish Elite League. In their last game, they lost to MoDo, where Peter Forsberg plays. Forsberg scored the GWG in OT as he attempts his comeback from what has been a brutal time with his foot.

It was fun to watch his players quickly get off the ice, get changed, and watch the Blues start practice. I had a chance to talk to a few of their players that have played in the NHL, including Mathias Tjarnqvist, who ended his NHL career in Phoenix.

Later on Monday, the team will have a scavenger hunt through downtown Stockholm in a team building exercise, similar to what the Penguins did last year here.

So far so good. What a tremendous experience to be here.

The Blues will play an exhibition game Tuesday in Linkoping Sweden. We will be taking the train there.
