Report for the Week Ending March 31
The Rivermen continued their five-game home stand last weekend with a loss to Oklahoma City and a win versus Lake Erie.
Mar. 29 – 4-2 L vs. Oklahoma City
The Rivermen battled back from a 3-0 deficit, but came up short in a 4-2 loss to the Barons on Friday night at Carver Arena. Tyler Shattock and T.J. Hensick scored third period goals for Peoria, but Brandon Davidson added an empty net goal to spoil the comeback. Brian Elliott made 26 saves in his first start for the Rivermen while Yann Danis stopped 25 of 27. Peoria went 0-for-5 on the power play.
Mar. 30 – 2-0 W vs. Lake Erie
Derek Nesbitt score the game-winning goal and Brian Elliott earned a shutout in Peoria’s 2-0 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday night in front of 7,660 fans at Carver Arena. Andrew Murray also scored for the Rivermen. Elliott stopped all 27 shots he faced in his first shutout since March 27,2012 with the Blues. Both teams combined to go 0-for-5 on the man advantage.
- T.J. Hensick is tied for the league lead in points with 62 (17 goals, 45 assists). He is also four assists away from tying the Rivermen record for most assists in a season. Hensick broke that record himself last season.
- Derek Nesbitt is currently third in the AHL in shots on goal with 219. His 25 goals tie him for ninth in the league.
- Peoria has won six of its last eight games to pull within five points of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference.
- The Rivermen now have a record of 31-30-4-3.
