Report for the Week Ending March 10
The Rivermen opened up their six-game road trip with a 1-3-0 record last week.
Mar. 5 – 2-0 L at Lake Erie
Calvin Pickard stopped all 25 Rivermen shots to earn the shutout and David van der Gulik scored the game-winning goal to help Lake Erie defeat Peoria 2-0 on Tuesday night. Brian Sutherby added an insurance marker in the third period. Jake Allen stopped 19 out of 21 in the loss. Both teams combined to go 0-for-7 on the power play.
Mar. 7 – 3-2 W at Lake Erie
The Rivermen went 2-for-6 on the man advantage, snapping an 0-for-25 drought, in a 3-2 win over the Monsters on Thursday night. Trevor Lewis scored his first AHL goal in the third period to give Peoria the game-winning tally. Mark Cundari and Derek Nesbitt also scored goals for the Rivermen. Mike McKenna made 26 saves for the victory.
Mar. 9 – 3-1 L at Hamilton
Peoria took 43 shots on goal, but were only able to beat Hamilton goaltender Robert Mayer once in a 3-1 loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday. Patrick Holland scored twice and Joey Tenute had a three-point night for Hamilton. Mike McKenna stopped 25 shots in a losing effort. The Rivermen went 0-for-5 on the power play.
Mar. 10 – 4-1 L at Toronto
Paul Karpowich made 26 saves in his AHL debut but the Rivermen lost 4-1 to the Toronto Marlies on Sunday. Derek Nesbitt scored a goal for the third straight contest. Peoria was outshot 30-21 in the game, and they went 0-for-4 on the man advantage.
- Derek Nesbitt took 25 shots on goal in Peoria’s four games last week. He leads the team with 187 shots on goal, an average of 3.4 shots per game.
- T.J. Hensick leads the club with 52 points (14G, 38A).
- Chris Bruton leads the Rivermen with 105 PIM. Mark Cundari is second with 68.
- Peoria now has a record of 25-27-4-3.
