Report for the Week Ending March 3
Last week the Peoria Rivermen were able to defeat the division leading Grand Rapids Griffins for the fourth time this season.
Mar. 1 – 4-1 L at. Rockford
Mark Cundari scored just 3:07 into regulation, but Rockford went on to score four unanswered goals in a 4-1 win over the Rivermen on Friday. The IceHogs went 3-for-7 on the man advantage, including two power play tallies from Jeremy Morin. Ben Smith also scored a pair of goals for Rockford. Jake Allen allowed four goals on 30 shots, while Carter Hutton stopped 23 of 24.
Mar. 2 – 4-1 W vs. Grand Rapids
Jake Allen stopped the last 28 shots he saw to lead Peoria to a 4-1 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday night at Carver Arena. Mark Cundari, Sergey Andronov, Brent Regner, and Evgeny Grachev all scored goals for the Rivermen. T.J. Hensick and Derek Nesbitt each earned a pair of assists in the victory. Peoria outshot Grand Rapids 32-29, while each club went 0-for-3 on the power play.
Rivermen Notes
- Despite Peoria’s recent scoring woes, Derek Nesbitt has been able to put up 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in his last six games.
- Since being reassigned to Peoria, Jake Allen has a 2.33 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in three starts.
- The Rivermen have a 16-13-3-0 record versus the Midwest Division this year.
- Peoria now has a record of 24-24-4-3, which puts them six points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
