Sorry for Yelling on Your Twitter

I'd like to issue an apology for yelling (with capital letters) while posting that tweet to the team's official Twitter account during Friday night's game in Calgary.

I'm sorry.

But can you blame me?

That save from Jake Allen, who was making just his second NHL start, was just so darn unbelievable.

I'll remember that one for a long, long time.

In the six years I've worked for the Blues, I've seen some great saves from the likes of Manny Legace, Chris Mason, Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott, but this one ranks right up there among the best.

Here's Allen's postgame comments to Bernie Federko on FOX Sports Midwest: "Sometimes it's nice to be a little bit lucky, but you just want to try to get anything that's in front of the net. I didn't have much of a chance, so I just stuck my stick out there and hit it and luckily, I could stand there and catch it. It was definitely one of the bigger saves I've made."

The whole "sometimes it's nice to be a little bit lucky" thing is awfully modest for a guy who saved a goal, and perhaps the game, by absolutely robbing Calgary's T.J. Brodie on that shot. Sure, the Blues had a 2-0 lead at the time, but if the Flames score there, the game could have turned out quite differently. Allen stayed calm, showed poise and came up with a save that should be part of SportsCenter's Top 10.

"Probably the save of the year right there," David Perron said. "I think it's pretty impressive that he did that in his second NHL game and it's good for us, I think."

Added Jaden Schwartz: "He just made it look casual. He kind of just stuck his stick out, stuck his glove out and that was the end of it."

With Friday's 5-2 win, the Blues' rookie improves to 2-0 on the season and has stepped up to the plate in Jaroslav Halak's absence, helping his team make a recent five-game winless streak a distant memory.

So again, I apologize for screaming in your Twitter feed tonight.

Now, please excuse me while I go watch that save again.
