Report for the Week Ending Dec. 2
Last week, the Rivermen had Derek Nesbitt and Adam Cracknell return from injuries as the team picked up one point in two games over the weekend. Nesbitt scored three times, including a game-tying goal in the final seconds of Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to Texas.
Dec. 1 – 3-1 L at Chicago
Derek Nesbitt scored to give Peoria a 1-0 lead early in the second period, but the Wolves scored three unanswered goals in their 3-1 victory over the Rivermen on Saturday night at Allstate Arena. Nesbitt had previously missed the past four games due to injury. Chicago scored two goals in a 2:27 span midway through the second period, and one late in the third frame to earn the win. Matt Climie stopped 24 of the 25 Rivermen shots he saw, while Jake Allen made 29 saves. Neither team scored on the power play.
Dec. 2 – 4-3 SOL vs. Texas
The Rivermen earned a point Sunday night in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Texas Stars. Goals by Tyler Shattock and Derek Nesbitt gave Peoria a 2-0 lead going into the second period. The Stars would go on to score three straight goals, two in the third period, to take the lead. In the dying second of the contest, Peoria pulled their netminder to get six attackers on the ice. Nesbitt scored his second goal of the night at the 19:56 mark of the third period to tie the game at 3. Phil McRae scored Peoria’s lone goal in the 10-round shootout. The Rivermen fired a season-high 41 shots on goal and went 2-for-4 on the man advantage.

- In 20 games this season, the Rivermen have only outshot their opponent five times.
- This year in shootouts, Jaden Schwartz leads the team with two goals on three attempts. T. J. Hensick is 1-for-3 and Phil McRae has scored once on two chances.
